OverviewThere are 10 islands that make up the exotic Cape Verde Islands. Each island has its own individual characteristics and distinct beauty. The islands are located 400 miles off the West Coast of Africa, just about 1 hours further flying time than the Canary Islands.
The main island in the Cape Verde islands is called Sal. Sal is the island located the most North Eastern part of the group. Sal is only 32 kilometres long and 12 kilometres wide and Sal’s main beauty lies in its Coastline and beaches.
Santa Maria is the main part of tourist town and the beach is always a hive of activity boasting a colourful atmosphere with locals and tourists a like.

Cape Verde is situated in the Atlantic Ocean, 600km (450 miles) northwest of Senegal and comprises 10 volcanic islands and five islets in two groups: Balavento (Windwards) and Sotavento (Leewards). In the former group are the islands of São Vicente, Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Santa Luzia, Sal and Boa Vista, along with the smaller islands of Branco and Raso; the Sotavento group comprises the islands of Santiago, Maio, Fogo and Brava, along with the smaller islands of Rei and Rombo. Most have mountain peaks; the highest being Pico do Cano, an active volcano, which is on Fogo. - Government

One of the main attractions in Cape Verde is the excellent weather it has year round. Cape Verde is a tropical climate and it has two main seasons; a cool season from December to June and a warm season from July to November. The rainfall is quite low and it mainly occurs from August to September. While the winters are cooler, they are far from cold and doesn’t stop those active people who love year round adventure. - Money
